The topic of my article is over hurricane Joaquin coming closer and closer to the East Coast, and is causing several college football games to be canceled or rescheduled. The Title of my article is, “East Coast teams prepare for possibility of Hurricane Joaquin”. I got the article from: http://espn.go.com/espn/story/_/id/13786212/east-coast-teams-prepare-possibility-hurricane-joaquin .
Many of the college football games are being rescheduled and a few are being cancelled. This is the first time in a long time, that more than 6 games have been either rescheduled or cancelled. Hurricane Joaquin, the cause behind this mix-up, has recently been declared a category 4 hurricane. Some of the games that will be cancelled will be Michigan vs. Maryland, Duke vs. Boston College, Illinois vs. Nebraska, and the NFL game between the Redskins vs. the Eagles will either be played in a different stadium, or it will be rescheduled to week 8.
I believe that this is just a part of the weather cycle. Hurricanes happen every once and a while and when they do, it is not worth risking players and fans lives just for a college or NFL football game. So I believe that commissioners of the NCAA, and the NFL are making the right choice just to reschedule the games once the storm is through the area. This doesn’t affect me directly, but it does mean that I will not be able to watch these teams play on Saturday and possibly even Sunday. This will upset some people, but it does not upset me that much because I’m not a fan of any of these teams.
Due to this natural event, there will be many die hard college football fans extremely upset. The reason is that all of their favorite college football teams won’t be able to play when they were planned to play. There are many people who live in England or in Central America, that they will never be able to watch these teams compete. The reason is that since they are out of country, their television providers probably won’t want to go through the trouble of programming the games on the fans TV’s. This isn’t a big deal yet, but if fans get upset, and don’t evacuate the areas they were told to because they are trying to protest the decision, they could get severely injured, or possibly even killed due to the hurricane. So in the end of it all the leagues are making the right decision to reschedule the games. They are trying to protect the safety of the fans, and the players.
another good one!
