The topic of my article is about if the NFL doesn’t it may fade away just like boxing. The title of my article is “The N.F.L.’s Next Play: Address Brain Trauma or Fade Away”. I got my article from: http://mobile.nytimes.com/2016/02/05/opinion/the-nfls-next-play-address-brain-trauma-or-fade-away.html?_r=0

If the National Football League (NFL) doesn’t change it safety rules, it might find itself right where boxing around the 1980’s. In the 1980’s, there were several debates whether or not boxing was a good sport to advertise to people sitting on their coach. The reason was that the refs would let the games get a little out of control, so eventually enough complaints were made to where a lot of people stopped watching boxing.

This affects me because my favorite sport to watch in the whole wide world, is football. I love to sit down and watch the Dallas Cowboys play on every Sunday night. The thing is though is that over the past 10 years the NFL has made several rules to prevent concussions and head injuries, but the rules were never enforced enough to solve the solution. Some people might say that it waters the league down too much, but the thing is that it doesn’t really matter what we think, but it’s how well the players are protected. I’m pretty sure that if the people who said that played football against those humongous 350 pound men out on the field, they would want to make sure that they were protected by the refs.

This affects the world because of the fact that so many people across the world watch the NFL. That means that if the doctors who are trying to protect the players, willow given a hard time for taking the fun out of the game. Although not every person thinks the same way, surely most people know about how those players you see playing on the field every night, aren’t moving the same way after they retire. For example, the great running back who played for the Houston Oilers in the 1980’s, can barely walk now even with a walker. This shows how you can go from great to crippled very fast if you play in the NFL. He may not have been concussed severally all of his career, but he still probably wishes he could walk normal again. Therefore, it’s not all about what we think should happen with the rules, but it should also be how the players feel about the rules.
